About the Winchester Model 70 (.30-06)
The Winchester Model 70's controlled-round feed and three-position safety have defined American bolt-action practice since the 1936 introduction, and current production keeps the wing extractor and forged receiver that built that reputation. In .30-06 the 24-inch barrel pulls full velocity from the cartridge, making the rifle effective at any distance a hunter can hold steady. The MOA Trigger System arrives adjustable from the factory, and the synthetic stock resists weather better than walnut while weighing the same. At about 7.5 pounds scoped, the gun balances acceptably for mountain carry.
