About the Remington 700 SPS
The Remington 700 SPS drops the action that American police snipers and hunters have used for decades into a synthetic stock with a barrel heavy enough for steady field accuracy. The cylindrical receiver with its two-lug bolt is simple, strong, and endlessly customized; stocks, triggers, and bottom metals all follow the same footprint. Barreling quality varies by production year, so a headspace check after purchase is sensible. In .308 Winchester the rifle works as a straightforward 300-yard deer gun, and it can be upgraded toward precision use without starting over from scratch.
