About the Springfield M1A (.308)
The Springfield M1A is the civilian descendant of the M14: a 7.62mm semi-automatic with a gas-operated rotating bolt, an external box magazine, and the service-rifle silhouette visible in its receiver and flash hider. A 22-inch barrel and wood or synthetic stock give it the balance of a full-size military arm, and it weighs near 9.5 pounds unloaded. Field accuracy typically lands around 1.5 to 2 MOA with quality ammunition. Scout and standard scope mounts clamp to the receiver, and the platform stays legal for hunting in more jurisdictions than its AR-10 style peers.
