About the SIG Sauer P229

The P229 is SIG Sauer's compact aluminum-frame service pistol, developed to handle higher-pressure .40 S&W and .357 SIG cartridges while sharing the proven controls of the larger P226. Current production centers on 9mm, but earlier runs in .40 S&W and .357 SIG remain common, and magazines are not interchangeable between those chamberings. The stainless slide and anodized frame resist holster wear, the double-action-first-strike trigger offers a long first pull with a short follow-up, and the breech block design contributes to reliable extraction. A 13-round magazine and a 3.9-inch barrel define its compact duty role.
