About the Ruger 10/22
The Ruger 10/22 has defined the .22 rifle market since 1964, anchored by a rotary 10-round magazine that feeds reliably and a takedown mechanism that makes cleaning trivial. The semi-automatic action is soft-shooting and quiet, which suits new shooters, and the aftermarket treats the platform as an ecosystem: barrels, triggers, stocks, and receivers are all available as drop-in parts. A standard carbine uses a 16.12-inch barrel with a 1:16 twist. Factory accuracy is adequate, and a large share of owners eventually try a match barrel. It remains the default recommendation for a first rifle.
