About the Ruger GP100
The Ruger GP100 was designed in the 1980s as a hardened alternative to K-frame revolvers, using a triple-locking cylinder and a monotone frame built to absorb continuous magnum use. The investment-cast body and cushioned grip system handle recoil differently than lighter designs, which shooters notice during long sessions at the bench. Six-shot cylinders are standard, with seven-round versions on certain full-length barrel models. The factory double-action trigger is heavier than Smith & Wesson's, but the lockwork rewards professional tuning and holds up under high round counts without complaint.
