About the Ruger Gunsite Scout
The Gunsite Scout Rifle answers the scout concept Jeff Cooper championed at Gunsite Academy, packing a full-power cartridge into a carbine with a 16.1-inch barrel and a short overall length. A forward optic rail supports long-eye-relief scopes that keep both eyes open while scanning, the detachable magazine speeds reloads over a blind-loaded design, and the .308 chambering covers deer, hogs, and general field work. Weight near seven pounds means the rifle can be carried all day without complaint, which was central to the scout idea from the start.
