About the Benelli M4
The Benelli M4 was the first semi-automatic shotgun adopted by the United States Marine Corps as the M1014, using an auto-regulating gas system that cycles light target loads and full-power buckshot without changing anything. That two-stage piston arrangement is unusual for Benelli, whose inertia-driven guns typically want heavier shells. A 7+1 capacity, ghost ring sights, and a collapsible stock on military versions define the platform, though civilian models ship with fixed stocks in most states. The 18.5-inch barrel keeps the gun quick in hallways, and weight near 8 pounds absorbs recoil.
