About the Remington 870
The Remington 870 has stacked up more than eleven million examples since 1950, and the design still centers on dual action bars, a solid steel receiver, and a shell latch that runs shorty loads and magnums without adjustment. The steel receiver weighs more than aluminum competitors, which helps damp recoil in 12 gauge. Field, Express, and Wingmaster trims differ mainly in finish, wood quality, and stock dimensions. Magazine tubes hold four rounds in most hunting models, and the platform accepts replacement barrels for slug, turkey, or home-defense configurations without gunsmithing.
