About the Colt 1911
Colt's Government Model traces directly to John Browning's 1911 design, and current production keeps the five-inch barrel, the seven-round magazine, and the single-action manual of arms that defined American service pistols for decades. The frame is forged, the slide carries the classic roll marks, and the thumb and grip safeties operate as the original design intended. Shooters buy the Colt for lineage as much as function, yet the gun remains a capable range tool: the trigger breaks cleanly, .45 ACP recoil through a steel frame stays manageable, and aftermarket support covers sights, grips, and magazines from dozens of makers.
