About the Springfield Mil-Spec 1911
Springfield Armory's Mil-Spec 1911 sticks close to the M1911A1 pattern: a five-inch barrel, a short-recoil operating system, and the familiar arched mainspring housing with a short trigger. Differences from the original include a beavertail memory bump to prevent hammer bite, a lowered ejection port for reliable case clearance, and a barrel bushing fitted at the factory. The result keeps the grip angle and sight picture generations of shooters learned on military pistols while adding the small refinements that make a modern 1911 comfortable to run through full training days.
